Donations to Flying Doctor Service

Last Friday July 15 saw Rashid Khan, owner of the local IGA Supermarket in Lightning Ridge, donate the sum of $11,358.10 to the president of the South East Royal Flying Doctor Service Joan Treweeke.
Present to accept the cheque with Joan were the Royal Flying Doctor Service Lightning Ridge Support Group’s Lyn Harding and Ngarie Stephens and Rural Women’s GP Program representative Dr Meg Higgins.
Lightning Ridge IGA Supermarket store manager Ray Daniel said “the store makes donations each year to local organisations. Part of the ongoing support comes from the IGA Community Chest Program which was set up to support local non-profit organisations’’.
“Your IGA store will donate a guarenteed percentage of sales from IGA-branded products and other selected specials to a nominated beneficiary each year.”
So look for the Community Chest logo on the shelf next time you shop and be assured your purchase is helping in your community.
